Spanish sculptor Manel Àlvarez trained at the San Juan Bosco School of Art in Barcelona, where he began carving religious figures in wood. After completing his studies, he continued sculpting alongside a successful career in industrial and interior design, later dedicating himself fully to sculpture.
Àlvarez spent 14 years working in Italy and has exhibited widely across Europe; including France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Italy and Spain, as well as internationally in Iran, Mexico, Brazil and the United States.
He frequently travels for inspiration and to install site-specific works. While in Atlanta in 1996 producing pieces for the Olympic Games, he visited major museum collections, including African art displays and exhibitions at MoMA in New York, experiences that further informed his artistic vision.
