Double sided tempera illustration on stone, by Rita Lillemor Hedelin (B.1946)

£460.00

A signed sculpture on plinth, by Swedish artist Rita Lillemor Hedelin (B.1946).

Rita Lillemor Hedelin works in tempera with motifs taken from childhood experiences, executed as memory sheets, like book pages, where the image reflects a felt feeling and icons executed on stones, which are picked at special places.

Tempera is a permanent, fast-drying painting medium where pigments are mixed with a water-soluble binder, most traditionally egg yolk, but also including other natural gums or modern synthetic resins. It is used on porous surfaces like wood, canvas, and paper, and the resulting paint film is water-resistant, with a matte finish. Tempera can refer to both the paint and the artwork created with it, and it is used by both historical masters and contemporary artists.
